The Heavens are Open!

Over the last few months I have had a great desire to improve my life, my heart, my mind and my spirit, but have been unable to do so. On my own.

Over the last few weeks I have had several faith-strengthening experiences; some have been from kind words from friends, others from lessons in church, and several directly from God. When I use the word directly, I use it quite literally. When we submit our will to our Savior Jesus Christ, we make room in our lives for amazing things to happen. The scriptures are full of miraculous events: Moses parting the Red Sea, the deliverance of Jonah from the mouth of the whale, angels closing the mouths of the lions to protect Daniel, the feeding of the 5,000 and countless others.

To contrast these large miracles of the Lord, let us study this “smaller miracle,” so we may better understand the love God has for each of His children, in a real and personal way. Continue reading The Heavens are Open!

Follow the Prophet, Part One

I find it interesting that my post yesterday focuses on how hard this life can be and how we knew it would be that way. We also knew that these last days before the second coming would be just as hard. But that is not what I want to talk about today.

Today I want to talk about one of the most amazing gifts we have on this earth today: Our Prophet.

Prayer will change the night to day!

Two weeks ago I had the blessing to be able to sing in our ward (congregation) choir. We sing fairly regularly, but with the business of summer travels, this would be our last until the fall. But I was still overjoyed to sing.  We sang one of my favorite hymns: Did you think to pray. 

Over the course of my life and experience with my faith, I’ve found that music is one of the easiest ways for me to worship God, for me to receive inspiration (or revelation, or both), for me to understand the gospel better, and ultimately for me to feel the Holy Ghost near to witness of truth and of my Heavenly Father’s love. This experience was no different 🙂
